Reciever Box Nessesary To Operate The Tv

i just got a 55" plasma but its not working. KDE-55XBR950   do i need a reciever box to operate the tv?

Yes for that TV you would need the media receiver MBD-55XBR950.  That is where are the inputs go which is then sent to the TV.
