Showing Movie Area In Memory Card Is Full, Cannot Record Movie, Help?

When trying to film a movie this came up 'Showing movie area in memory card is full, cannot record movie'. I have deleted everything of the SD card and the playlist delete on the camera but it is still showing this. how do i sort this out? thanks

to fix this problem on my Sony DCR-SX45, I followed these steps (once you have transered videos from memory to PC): Select MENU - "Show others" - Manage Media: "Media Format". It will ask you if you want to clear.. I selected "yes" and it reset my memory and allowed me to record again!
