Installing Xplod
installing xplod, it has power when i plug in pig tail but the screen wont turn on

Something similar happened to me too, and I might have the solution to your problem.
When you plug in the connector to the back of the CDX-GT56UI, you hear the motor working for about 2 second but nothing else? The buttons don't work, the display is blank, right?
OK, check ALL the fuses in your car. For my case, I have a 1997 BMW 540i, there are fuses related to the radio in the fusebox located in the glovebox, I check those fuses, they were all good. So, I freaked out for a day, then, I found out there is another fusebox located in the trunk, right above the battery. I saw one fuse(red colored, 10A)that's blown, so I replaced it, BAM, the display goes back on on the CDX-GT56UI! Yeah!
