Else, follow these steps:

Make sure you have the microphone plugged in the laptop/PC and it is set to the max volume and not mute.
Test the sound by using the Echo/Sound test or type “echo” in the search box and click Call.
If you cannot hear any sound, try this: In Skype, goto Tools, Options, Audio Settings. Check the volume indicator and speak into the microphone. You will see some movement and this means your microphone is working.
If you still cannot see any movement or hear any sound, make sure the device in the Microphone drop-down list is the device used to hear the sound.
