Trying To Contact Another Skype Client. Both On Line But Marked As Being Offli

I am trying to contact another skype client. We are both on line but are market as being 'offline'. We both upgraded recently. We dont have this problem with other people and it happened the same last week. What can I do. I cant find any corresponding information on the skype site? Help Help Please!
