Singer Futura Quartet Seq6000- How Do I Adjust The Presser Foot Bar?

How do I adjust the presser foot bar? I know there is a screw located on the side that will allow me to adjust the bar up or down. I have found what I thought to be the correct screw and tried a small hex tool with no luck. My problam is when I try to raise the presser foot I have to tab the presser foot bar to the left to realigh it before the foot will lift. If you look at the bar from the inside of the nmachine, you can see that is rests in a small hole and when I lower the presser foot it comes completely out of the hole and causes it to misaligh and sit directly on the machines feed.
