Menu Screen Trouble
How do I get the menu screen to recieve channels on cable. No remote.

Access the Menu using the buttons on the TV, the Menu button is the closest to the power button. (The channel up/down buttons is the up and down and the Input button is for the Enter key). Be sure that the input is set to CABLE to change channels. You need to program the cable channels by accessing the Menu and navigate to Setup (left/right arrows). Press Input to enter sub-menu then use the Up/Down arrows to select CH Setup then Enter. You can now set the channel source and let the TV scan for channels.
If you want to replace your Remote with a universal remote, you will need one that was programmed more than 6 months after the TV was released. Look for a remote that has a Menu & Input/Source button. Check all of the codes to find one that matches all of the features on your original remote.
