Why Is It Not Getting Cold?

I defrosted my mini fridge and now it won't get cold. It also has a weird oily or plastic smell. What could be wrong? It was fine before I defrosted it.

It is most likely a bad/defect 'cold control thermostat' due for replacement - also refer to as a temperature controller...
