Samsung Hls5687w Turns Off And Temp, Timer And Lamp Led's Are Blinking

I have a Samsung DLP HLS56787W DLP projection TV.  When I turn it on, the picture comes on for about 20 seconds then is shuts itself down and the Standby/Temp, Timer and Lamp LED’s are all blinking.  When I power up, I can hear the initial click from the ballast, I can hear the color wheel spinning up and then the chimes from the TV itself indicating it is coming on.  I have read several other threads with similar problems and have tried all suggestions.  I don’t think it is the back panel switch is the problem as I have shorted it out and the tv functions in the same manner.  I don’t think it is the temp sensor as I have shorted this out also and the tv functions same way.  I don’t think it is the lamp as I have replaced the lamp and the tv functions the same way.  I don’t think it is the color wheel as it spins up and I don’t hear any clanking or odd noises.  I have checked the capacitors on the ballast and power supply and don’t see any raised tops; all are completely flat.  I have also listened to the set from the back and don’t hear any clicking from the ballast which could indicate that it is going bad.  I don’t know what else to try… Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

it's probably either the DMD board (the one clad in metal and has a fan cooling it) or the LVDS cable (the cable that connects the video section to the DMD board). I have seen this a couple times and the only way to prove it is to eliminate all the other parts. Here is my normal blurb:

the blinking indicators: normally this is an indication that you have a bad lamp, but really what this indication is, the microprocessor has not received the signal from the optical engine that "the lamp is lit and all is well". There are many things that need to happen before the lamp will start up. The power supply must develop all the needed voltages required by all the rest of the circuits, the cooling fans must be running at the correct speeds, the lamp door switch must be closed (interlock switch), The Color Wheel must be able to spin at the 1800 RPM and lock in sync with the video signal, the ballast circuit must be able to develop the 5000 volts to start-up the mercury vapor lamp, and the lamp needs to be in good working condition to light up. There should be no weird noises pointing to the fact that a fan or the color wheels motor bearings are starting to go bad.

The normal failures are the lamp and the color wheel. Unfortunately there is NO way to test a lamp. I have seen nearly 100 lamps come into my shop that has failed in less than a month, and many that didn't last one full day. These lamp you buy off the web are many times factory seconds. I have had some customers send back a lamp two, three, and four times before they got one that lasted through the warranty. Our shop only buys from the manufacturer. When you turn on this DLP HDTV the fans will start up first and then the color wheel will spin-up. If the color wheel doesn't get up to the 1800 RPM and maintain that speed then the lamp will not get to enable pulse. unfortunately after three attempts the set will shut down and the indicators will blink telling the customer to change the lamp. Finally the DLP chip is controlled by the DMD board, this board it also responsible for coordinating the components in the optical engine. It fails rarely, but when it does it can be nearly impossible to determine short of eliminating all else. It receives commands from the main microprocessor via the big LVDS cable. The microprocessor is located in the signal cluster and all it knows is that the lamp didn't light up correctly, so it gives the change lamp LED indicator blink
