Any Cure For Problem Of Dishwasher Detergent Cover Not Releasing?

I've always used the prepackaged squares but they sometimes don't release.  Is this an issue with this type of detergent in this dishwasher or have I loaded the dishwasher incorrectly?

Two things to check, both are inside the door. 1st wax motor that opens the soap door may be bad. replace it if needed. 2nd, check the linkage and the wiring to the soap door release. Before checking, is anything blocking the door from opening like the top rack in in backwards?
