Scan-to-folder Settings
I have successfully configured other PCs for scan-to-folder in Windows XP but three other PCs have failed. Connection test shows the following: "Connection to PC has failed. Check settings". i checked firewall settings, shared folder settings, networking settings, computer name etc and do not find any difference. What next i can i check?

Hi, it sounds like you've already checked a lot! Just to be clear, this copier can scan to other computers but not to these three XP computers, right? If that's the case, here are some other things you can check (hopefully one of them is the culprit):
- Router firewalls. You said you checked firewalls -- I don't know if you checked your router firewalls (if your router has a firewall). It may be blocking port 137, 138, and/or 139. If the three PCs that can't connect are on their own network segment, that may be the cause of the failure.
- WINS settings. On the PCs that can't connect, go into TCP/IP properties for the network connection, select the Advanced button and go to the WINS tab. Make sure either the first or second option (Default or Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP) is selected.
- Try using the PC's IP address instead of host name to set up the connection. If that works, there is a problem resolving the name somewhere, but at least you can set up scanning in the mean time.
- If the scan folder you created is on the desktop, move it to another location (such as the root area of the C: drive). Sometimes shared folders on the desktop create weird issues.
Hope that helps! If none of those fixes resolves the issue, post here again and we'll go from there. Thanks for using HelpOwl!
