Prt45 Sometimes Has Static, Sometimes Not. Why?

plugged my new PRT45 in and picked up phone. sometimes there is loud static on the line, and sometimes when I pick it up it is clear. This phone replaces another which was always clear.

It either is defective or you have some type of interference that this unit has no shielding capability.
