I Cannot Get Very Much Volume From My Unit. Any Ideas?

it is about ten to 13 years old. I just fixed the fuses. The volume knob does not work smoothly. The reading jumps all around during adjustment. It works better when the loud setting is used

Volume knobs are easily replace and doing so should potentially resolve your issue. I do not think the volume resistor itself is amongst the culprits.
