Transmission Issues

My car will shift into park and it will drive in reverse but it will not move forward when in drive. It sounds like the car is in neutral when its in drive. I do not hear any types of noises when I shift. This is also a new problem. It was driving perfectly fine until I parked it went inside for a few hours and came out to drive to the store. Can someone please give me some advice. (Aside from never purchasing an american car LoL!!!!)
