Why Would My Van Sometimes Start And Other Times Not Start?

I have changed fuel pump and filter. Afetr the change it worked for four days and then it happened again. The check enegine light was on and I disconnected the battery and eventually it started. Now its doing it again could that be a bad computer in it?
