Fuel Guage Problem

my 2000 pontiac montana fuel guage stays on full even when the car ia about to be on empty.

I recently purchased a 2000 Pontiac Montana and checked for all recalls on that year make and model and one of the recalls listed referred to this problem, which mine also has so I am not sure the problem but with a recall i am taking mine to the dealership and suggest the same for a place to start for you
