How Can You Tell If The Fuses Or Relays Are Working

the previous owner ran a wire from the fuse to the #2 v6 cooling fan....i removed it and replaced it with the correct fuse....when the wire was connected the car did crazy things like the trunk would pop open, the interior lights would go on and off, the ets wouldn't work, the security light would blink, the pass lock system wasn't working. when i removed it alot of these things stopped, but the fan stopped working, and the pass lock system still acted up from time to time.
