Dies When Driving Down Road

My 1993 pontiac grand prix 3.1 will sometimes die when i am driving down the road, sometimes it will start right back up and sometimes i have to park it until it decides to start. When it doesn't want to start is like it is not getting any gas.  It will also die from a stop when I push the gas pedal. It doesn't do it all the time. It did is when it was cold out but has gotten worse the the high temperatures we have been having. Any ideas what to check or how.  if need more info let me know and i will see if can answer your question.
