Pfaff Expression 3.2 Buttonhole Maker No Longer Works

Pfaff Expression 3.2 buttonhole maker does the first reverse straight stitch but doesn't stop, just continues the straight stitch backward and won't begin the forward zigzag pattern

Why is My Reverse Stitch Loose? When you start to see loose stitches forming, there may be a problem with the mechanics of the machine. ... Then you may have the wrong needle or thread in your machine. Not the wrong but the wrong needle and thread for the fabric you are working on.
