Unit Will Not Turn Off

Hello, When I turn off the power to the unit, after one minute, it turns itself back on and then runs through the menu of functions (eg: cd, tuner, tape, etc.). Of course, when I unplug it, it stays off. It has been in storage for a couple of years (temp controlled) so I don't know if this is a factor. I would appreciate any thoughts and suggestion. Thank you, Heather
