Connecting To Samsung Smart Tv Question

I was told by Samsung support to connect with an optical cable from my SA-HT280 amp to my new Samsung Smart tv. I put one end of new cable to "Digital optical out" on tv and the other to the only optical tv port on amp. So far nothing is working. Any suggestions?

I would check the settings on the TV to see if there's an option to change the audio output.
