Can Remote Be Camera-specific

I have a NV GS 400 and a NV GS500, each with a remote. But the remotes do not seem to be camera specific - this leads to problems with both cameras running. Using remote pointed at the NV GS 400 to stop this camera, also stops the NV GS500, although the cameras are separated by a few feet. Can a remote be made camera specific. I do not see any such option in the instructions
