One Of My Units Looses Connection With The Base When Within 3 - 5 Ft Of The Base

One of my units looses connection with the base when within 3 - 5 ft of the base?The handset appears fully charged

Hi. A bad battery (though seeming to still charge OK) tend to cause this.
