My Halo Will Not Pick Up Upright Position. Why?

Hello, My husband brought home a Halo Vacuum Cleaner last year or a little over. Shortly after, it stopped picking up at a upright posision. It does work when I atrtach a hose manually but not upright, Did I do something wrong? Shortly after my husband and I moved in to help his mother after she became ill. Most of our things went into storage, its been over a little over a year now. We pulled it out after her vacuum cleaner stopped working. Its still attached with a hose. Your manual stated to contact customer service for this problem as I recall correctly. Does it need to be connected at the handle or is their something else that needs perfessional attension? Please advise. Thanks Maria & Fred Carrillo
