This sounds like a battery or a starter problem. First try to jump start your car. If this does not work try tapping the starter with a hammer or blunt object while someone holds the key in position.(Don't hit it too hard) If it starts, then you should replace the starter.

Just a clicking sound when you try to start a car is usually one of four things. The first thing I would check is the battery cable clamps. Disconnect them from the battery and clean any corrosion from the battery posts and the cable clamps. If that doesn't work, it could be corroded starter terminals. Remove the terminals from the starter (disconnect battery first)and scuff them up with sandpaper. If those two things don't work, I would guess that it's a dead battery. Autozone will check it for you for free if you remove it from the car and take it to them. If all else fails, you will probably have to replace the starter. Good luck!
