Second Display Adapter Is Enabled, Display Will Periodically Scramble And Will

: I recently installed Windows 7 Home Pro on my home-built system. Initially, it was unable to recognize my second monitor/display adapter; flashing the BIOS fixed this problem, but produced a new one. Now, when the second display adapter is enabled, that display will periodically scramble and both will freeze.Please see this link for a photograph of the problem: http://twitpic.com/pa59hI have yet to trace a pattern on what causes the freeze; it seems to happen at random. I've tried multiple drivers for the adapter, and none have worked; furthermore, attempts to update it through Windows Update are listed as "failed." All the attempted updates for "NVIDIA - Display - GeForce 6X00" list as "failed" in the update history, for both drivers. Attempts to manually install drivers also have not remedied the problem.
