Activation Win 7

Dear Sir, On April 2010 at 11.55.11 I happened to UPGRADE my software( WIN 7) vide Order No.5002510179 Product WINDOWS 7Ultimate Get Genuine Online Kit.Later the PRODUCT KEY was sent to me for future use.Since I Upgraded my HD from 250 to 500 GB (& will do in future also)I again installed the same which is not accepted for validation stipulating’ CANNOT BE DONE ON THIS COMPUTOR’ hence purchase another. Ido not understand a) when computor is same ,b)machine is same,c) mother board is same,d)user is same then WHY it is not being validated & I am being subjected to purchase another one or I should purchase when I upgrade my hard ware or install a fresh. Will you please clarify,I will be oblized VIJENDRA DATT UNIYAL

Traditionally, Microsoft licensing has always been tied to the motherboard. A replacement hard drive should be fine in terms of using the same license. Unfortunately, even reinstalling the operating system on the same hard drive on the same computer can cause annoying problems with the registration key. Your options then are to either call Microsoft directly or to re-register you key online. E-mailing them is another option.

I would suggest contacting Microsoft directly either by email or phone and telling them that you are having problems activating Windows 7 on a replacement hard drive for your computer. Unfortunately, many other people run into this problem as well. They may ask you a few questions such as what type of computer and hard drive so that they feel more at ease that your cause is legitimate but will then give you a new key to activate your copy of Windows.
