Either there is no sim card in the phone or the sim card you are using needs to be replaced. If there is a sim card in the phone and its not reading it, try removing the sim card then putting alcohol on a cotton swab and GENTLY cleaning the gold contacts on the card itself before spending money on a new sim card.
