Theft Light Blinks
Just bought 99 mountaineer and realized the theft light blinks with the truck off. I just have ignition key, no alarm key. The dashboard lights b on, also, even when I haven turned them on. What may be the problem? ?

Your vehicle is equipped with the Ford PATS - Passive Anti-Theft System. Depending on the year, make and model will affect what all it covers. The basics you are looking at are the ignition key, dash cluster and PCM communicate electronically. If the vehicle is attempted to be started mechanically without the electronic completion of circuits then multiple items can happen from shutting down of the starter, fuel pump shut off and injector stoppage.
When the key is removed and the system is active the Theft light comes on as a warning.
It is not unusual at all for the home mechanic to try and work on these vehicles and cause electronic component damage which can immobile the vehicle and require some rather costly repairs.
