On the bottom plate of the camera you will find two small Phillips head screws on either side of the tripod socket. You will need a small Phillips head screwdriver, such as Jewelers screwdrivers. The screws are captured screws that are held into the base, so you won't have to worry about losing them. inside you will find slots for the 4 AA batteries, as well as a SD card slot to expand the storage beyond the internal 6mb.
