Is The Player Defective? It Will Play Cds, But Not Dvds Anymore? What Can I Do?

This indicates that the laser is dying. DVDs are harder to read due to the data being more condensed on the disc, so this explains why it's able to read CDs and not DVDs. The only thing you can really do is buy a new DVD player.
