Why Won't My Washer Wash,rinse Or Spin?

i stopped the washer to add more clothes. it was on the wrong water type so i reset the washer by holding the start button for 3 seonds until the sensing light stopped blinking. i changed the water temp and pushed start..the lid locked and the sensing light came on,but the washer is making this humming sound. it wont drain.spin.wash or fill with water. what could that be
