My Maytag Mvwc400xwo Is Making Very Loud Creaking And Machine-like Noises During

The wahser makes loud creaking, machine-like noises during the wash and spin cycles. This started gradually over the last 6 months, now during every use. Belts looose? Change caught between the tub and the motor/transmission?
