You should not have to turn on a pilot light. You have a problem with your ignitor, which can be resolved according to instructions at http://www.repairclinic.com/RepairHelp/How-To-Fix-A-Range-Stove-Oven/18-4-630867-/Maytag-Oven-won-t-turn-on--MGR5775QDW.
