Why Did Washer Stop Filling With Water?

I selected settings. Water flow started. I opened the lid to add detergent. When I closed the lid, the water flow never restarted. I've tried every selection (load type, temperature, capacity). Electricity to unit is OK (dryer works); water to all faucets in house is OK.
