Maytag Electric Range 'bake' Flashes In Display But Bottom Element Does Not Work

I have a Maytag electric range, model #MER5765RAS, that went haywire after a few 'self-clean' cycles.  Now when the 'bake' function is used, the broiler element comes on, and when it preheats, it beeps and 'bake' flashes in the display.  the bottom element does not come on; consequently, everything gets broiled instead of baked.  I tested both elements (good) and temp. sensor (also tested fine), and the door lock mechanism works correctly.  I also disconnected power to reset it, but the problem persists.  Is there something else I can check?
