I just did this task last night. I got a certified Maytag "boot seal" (about $110) from a certified Maytag OEM dealer. It was super easy. The boot is held together by two wire rings. Remove the front ring first. It is spring -loaded, with the spring coil at the 6 o'clock position. Use a thin standard #1 screwdriver to carefully pry the ring from the front boot. It rests on a channel. Once off, reach to the 12 o'clock position (use a headlamp to see), and locate the inner retaining ring. It is not spring loaded, but has a long thin bolt going into a nutplate clamp. loosen with a #2 phillips, and remove once you have backed it off enough. Remember that the boot goes in one way: the boot cut-out for the drain at the 10 o'clock position and the 3 drain holes at the 6 oclock position have to align perfectly. Installing new boot is the reverse. Start to feed the boot seal over the lip of the washer inner casing, ensuring the seal is located over the lip. Feel to ensure it is. Then, using jetdry or dishsoap for lube, position the inner ring (it is the thinker one with the nutplate clamp) at the 12 o'clock postition. Once on the groove, begin to tighten clamp until it snugs the rear boot securely. That's the hard part. The front seal quickly goes over the front lip of the washer case. Install the spring-loaded (thinner) ring with the spring at the 6 o' clock postition and you're done. It took me about 45 minutes to do.
