If you need to cancel your MasterCard you need to follow the below given steps:

1. First check that your MasterCard balance is paid and then try to cancel your card.

2. Call the customer care number (800) 622-7747 and this number is toll free.

3. Give your account number and the service department will ask you to give a security code which is found at the back of your master card and your SSN, date of birth, name and address.

4. You need to inform MasterCard by sending a formal letter requesting them to cancel the card and then once the card has been cancelled, inform them about the cancellation. If your card is lost and you do not have any billing statement to check the address of MasterCard, go to the website of MasterCard and search for the bank who issued the card.

5. Save the MasterCard statements if any and the payment proofs for security purposes to check if the card has been cancelled.
