No Spark

I have a Makita EK7651H and the ignition coil will not generate a spark when trying to pull start the engine. I removed the flywheel cover and the spark plug from the engine. When I attached my drill to turn the flywheel, it generated a spark at a higher rpm. A higher rpm than what it would turn using the recoil. What could the problem be? A weak ignition coil, or degenerated magnets on the flywheel? By the way, the air gap between the flywheel, and the ignition coil, is 3mm.

Test the ignition coil for continuity. The primary should read around 4 ohms and the resistance from the plug cap should read around 10K ohm +. This gives a ratio of about 10 to one. So giving a high voltage at the plug cap. Both connections should read to the ground (body). This would give you a good idea if the coil has failed. A faulty spark plug, shorted or open circuit is always the first suspect. Check for help on youtube for advice on coil testing.

Hope that helps.
