1. No, you don't.

2. magicJack's webpages provide inconsistent pricing information. It apppears that the annual service fee has been reduced to $19.95, but this is in addition to the purchase price for the device, probably $30.00 [total $59.95]. (There's an additional charge for shipping.) The only way to be sure of the current rates is to take the time to fill out the information leading up to the free trial.
