While it could be either a hardware or software issue,First remove any DVD & batteries from it, and detach any cords,then over something where you can catch any loose pieces,pick it up and very carefully rotate it through three or more axeslistening for anything very loose inside andlistening/watching for anything to drop or fall out.It sounds like something could be preventing the head assemblywhich contains a Laser-diode and a photo-receptor from moving past the 10-minute (usually out of two-hours),some DVD players come with a shipping insert or lock which is supposed to be removed before playing/using.

The other possibility is a very bizarre/extreme software glitch,where the DVD player's microprocessor/program is crashing after 10 minutes.
