Do I Need A Confirmation Number Or Just The Ticket Number To Check In At Airport

You really don't need either. If you check in with a LH agent, you can present your passport and advise your destination which will enable them to find your reservation. If you use an airline kiosk, you may need your airline confirmation number, but with your passport identification, it should find your reservation with basic travel information.
