Does The Linksys Wap610n Work With A Netgear Av 200 Adapter?

I wanted to use my Linksys WAP610N to enhance my wireless wifi signal, with an AV 200 Netgear adapter which I can plug in to my power socket. So the idea is that I plug an internet cable into my normal router, plug the internet cable in my adapter which I plug into a power socket, and then I put the other adapter into another power socket (downstairs) and put another internet cable into the WAP610N. But it does not increase my signal. I did change the SSID name of the linksys in that of my normal router... did i configure something wrong or do they not work together?
