Leappad 1, Stuck On Tune-up

I have a LeapPad 1 that is getting stuck on tune-up...I have changed the batteries, rebooted the computer, re-installed the Connect program and still no luck!  The LeapPad makes the connect and disconnect tone a couple of times and then freezes at 8%, please help!
