Leappad 1 Froze At Tuning Leappad 8%

My daughter's leappad was not loading, would come up to whitescreen with LEAPFROG on it and then stop there.  I followed insturctions on syncing it to my computer and pressing HOME and DOWN volume, now it is TUNING in the LeapFog synching at 8% and hasn't moved for an hour.  Please help!
