I bought a used leappad2 myself, actually I have bought several, and this is what I have found:
1. If the previous owner had registered the leappad2 online, then it would tell something like "This toy was registered to another parents email, if you change it to another, you may lose you applications." So if you have a toy that was not registered, you may be the first on registering it.
2. If the previous owner bought and downloaded games to your machine, and you can still see them on the machine, you may want to wait and play with those games without connecting the toy to the internet because there is a possibility of you losing some applications:
a. If the previous owner, after selling his toy, goes into his account and ELIMINATES the applications from the SOLD TOY so as to transfer it to a new one, then you RUN the risk that when you connect and update your toy, it will go ahead and carry out the ELIMINATION PROCESS.
b. If the previous owner merely sold the toy without a plan to continue using the applications, and never eliminated them on his account, then you can connect and update your toy and you will get to KEEP the applications that are already there.
Hope this helps.
