No Warm Water Entering The Machine From Hot Water Heater Hose

There is no hot water coming from my water heater into my brand new LG WT5001CW top loading machine when it is in the warm-cold or hot-cold cycle.   The hose from the water heater stays cool indicating that the machine is only drawing from the cold water hose. Yes - it's hooked up properly to the correct hoses and water valves are open. The washer is not drawing water from the warm water hose. This model does not have a built in heater so what's the deal?

I discovered that no hot water enters the m/c when the cotton/normal selection is made. The bulky/bedding cycle does allow hot water. I have been told that LG has programmed the m/c this way. I don't know why.
