A heavy bleach load should kill off anything in the washer drum itself.  Make sure to run it without clothes since too much bleach can damage even whites.  Use real bleach NOT bleach alternative.

You can also spray the insides.  UNPLUG the unit, pull it out, open the rear panel (will require removing some screws) or tip it back and see if there is a bottom panel.  Either way you can spray bleach or Lysol disinfectant around the insides to kill mold or mildew.

Let the interior dry thoroughly before closing it up and/or plugging it back in.

If the machine is leaking internally the problem will just return.  It might be worth a trip to the repair shop if this is a recurring issue.

UNPLUG THE UNIT BEFORE DOING ANYTHING INSIDE IT!!!

You need to drain the washer after a days worth of loads by opening the front lower left panel and pulling out the drain plug. Unscrew cap and empty into a small basin or bucket as you could get up to a quart of water. This allows all the water to drain out so there is no residual to fester and cause the smell.
