Lg Wm2010cw Door Will Not Unlock

1. The door lock may be jammed or the control board may be powering the lock all the time.

2. First, unplug the appliance, wait 5 minutes and see if the door opens, with the machine still unplugged.

3. If it does, then the lock has been continuously powered.

Try the machine again.

4. If it doesn't unlock I would think it's only a jammed or faulty door lock rather than a faulty control board.

6. Give the door lock a couple of good thumps, on the front panel adjacent to the handle, to see if it jars the lock loose. (I am assuming the door handle isn't broken and loose).

7. If it doesn't free off, unplug the appliance and take the top off.

Reach inside and find the door lock, see if you can unlatch it from there. (I'm afraid you can only jiggle around to try and free it).

8. If it still won't unlock itself the next step is to try and get the lock to come off of it's screws.

9. Work it side to side, up and down, all the while trying the handle.

Eventually the lock will come off of it's screws.

10. Lift it off of the door latch and once the door is open, replace the door lock with a new one.

11. Alternatively, you can use the more brutal method and simply prise the door open.

12. This will also break the door latch so you would need to replace the door handle/latch assembly as well as the door lock.

13. (On a few LG machines there is a remote cable to open the door, check where your filter is to see if your machine has this. (It's not mentioned in the service manual) Normally coloured Red).
