Tom Tom Via Connection

How do I get my LG840G to stay connected to my Tom Tom Via? It connects then disconnects after Tom Tom connect screen completes. I had no problem with my LG800 - the LG800 even transferred the phone book . The Blue tooth on the LG840G is turned on as well as 3 min visibility on the LG840G thank you for responding
